Skilled Nominated (permanent, +5)
The subclass 190 adds 5 points for a state or territory nomination and grants permanent residence immediately. The trade-off is that the state chooses you, on its own list, with its own criteria. This calculator scores you with the nomination included.

The subclass 190 Skilled Nominated visa uses the same 11-factor points test as the 189 plus 5 points for state or territory nomination. It is permanent on grant, and in 2026 it has been the realistic route for many applicants from around 75 base points, depending on occupation and state. Each state runs its own program with its own occupation list, and most expect you to live in that state for at least two years after grant.
The 190 is a permanent skilled visa where a state or territory government nominates you because your occupation is in demand there. You lodge an EOI in SkillSelect selecting the states you want, apply separately to each state's nomination program, and if a state nominates you the Department invites you to apply. The 5 nomination points are added to your score and, more importantly, the state's invitation is not competing in the national 189 pool.
The moral obligation is to live and work in the nominating state, usually for two years. It is not a visa condition, but states track it and a breach can affect future applications for you and for your agent.

Lists and criteria change through the program year, and most states now prioritise applicants already living and working in the state. Confirm current status with the ApplyOn occupation search before relying on any state.
States nominate against their own thresholds, not the national pool. Through 2026, 190 nominations have been realistic for many applicants from around 75 total points (70 base plus 5), and strong from 85, but a state will nominate a 70-point nurse it needs before a 95-point accountant it does not. Occupation and onshore status carry more weight on the 190 than raw points do. Your unlocked report from the main calculator lists which states are open for your occupation.
Compare with the 189 calculator and the 491 calculator, which adds 15 points instead of 5.
Common questions
65 is the minimum including the 5 nomination points. Realistic nominations in 2026 have started around 75 total for in-demand occupations and are strong from 85. States weigh occupation and onshore status heavily, so points alone do not decide it.
5 points for the subclass 190. The subclass 491 regional nomination gives 15.
States expect you to live and work there for at least two years after grant. It is a commitment rather than a visa condition, but states monitor it.
You can express interest in several states in your EOI, but most states require a separate application and some ask you to nominate them exclusively.
Yes. Like the 189 it grants permanent residence on the day it is granted.
